Frequently Asked Questions About Donations

Q: How do I donate?
A: There are three ways that you can donate: You can donate online using either your PayPal account or a credit card (click on the yellow button in the left column), you can donate at any Wells Fargo by informing them that you wish to contribute to the Marius Burn Fund, or you can mail checks to:

Marius Burn Fund
c/o Ben Christensen
3091 Davencourt Loop
Lehi, UT 84043

Q: What will the funds be used for?
A: There are a variety of expenses that these funds will help cover. These expenses include, but are not limited to: translator fees, document fees (i.e. passport, visas), transportation fees, housing fees, and medical expenses.

Q: Who will benefit from these funds?
A: Our main purpose is to bring Marius to America to receive the medical treatment he needs. As such, he will be the main beneficiary of all monies spent. To provide emotional support for Marius while he is in America, we are also trying to bring his older brother, Ionut, to America with him. Ionut will, therefore, be a secondary beneficiary.

Q: How do we know that these funds are being properly spent?
A: Each month, every organizing member of TeamMarius will receive copies of the bank statements from the Marius Bund Fund account to ensure that all expenditures are in-line with the stated purpose for these funds.

Q: What happens to the money if Marius can’t come to the United States?
A: In the unlikely event that we, in conjunction with CBF and Shriners, are unable to bring Marius to America, the funds will be held in an interest-bearing account for him until he is 18 years old. If he requires medical attention or has other financial needs that necessitate additional funds from what his custodian is able to provide before he reaches 18, arrangements will be made to offset or cover those expenses from said fund.

Q: What will happen to any additional funds that remain after Marius receives all of his treatment?
A: In the event that additional funds remain after all treatment is complete, the same procedure as outlined in the previous question will be followed.

Q: Is my contribution tax deductible?
A: No. TeamMarius is operating via a group of volunteers and is not a registered non-profit organization (by law, a non-profit must benefit a broad group of people rather than an individual) that has the ability to send out charitable contribution statements. All contributions made to the Marius Burn Fund are treated as gifts for tax purposes.
