We apologize that it has been a while since you’ve heard from us. We’ve continued to work on custody issues for Marius but most of what we are doing now, moves along slowly and without a lot of fanfare. TeamMarius 5/30/08 UpdateWe hope this update finds you all well and happy. Marius is doing so well!! His personality and sense of humor are just off the charts. He is learning english phrases for his trip to America and he has sat up on his own a few times in preparation for the long plane flight. He is even trying to put some weight on his feet. We hope that in a months time we will have all that we need in order to fly him over here! April 9, 2008Sorry it’s been so long! Almost a week! Marius is great though! We have had some good times and some sad times, but we all know he is a fighter so he pulled through. He is getting a lot more vocal and loves saying our names ☺. Last week Ashley went in a couple of days without me because I was sick. She said that she had lots of fun with him and that they watched movies together (the same one over and over—he loves Aladdin 2 and Tarzan). The next day when I went in he said that it was bad of me not to come and then smiled. So cute! He was in some pain that day too. Usually it is his feet and legs or his back itches. Ashley was the little nurse and helped him move his foot up and down and backwards and forwards. It seemed to really help ease the pain. He can lift his leg by himself and kind of stretch it out, which is a good sign. We also found out that Marius is very smart. His brother Ionut was there, but had gone downstairs for a break. Marius was asking for him and we told him that he would be back in 10 min. A couple of minutes later he asked for Ionut again. We told him 10 minutes again because we didn’t really know when he would be back. Marius then informed us that we had said 10 min. a couple of minutes ago. So, we had to change our answer to 5 min. After another 10 min he asked where Ionut was again. We told him that he was probably going to be another ten min. He seemed very exasperated with us. It was kind of funny though because he makes this sighing noise letting us know exactly how he feels. Luckily, Ionut did come back in 10 minutes that time! Marius is also very considerate. The first little boy that was in his room was burned pretty badly too and now he is in another room. Marius will always ask about him though and ask to see if we have visited him or given him a balloon too. One day when we had finished watching Tom and Jerry he said that he wanted to listen to some music. Right as I was putting the music on another little boy in the room said that he wanted to watch cartoons. Marius told me to put cartoons on for the other little boy and that it was okay. I was so impressed by his selflessness. He lies in bed all day and he can’t really move and yet he wanted the other little boy to have cartoons. He is so sweet! Marius also has a sense of humor. Usually he will say pretty please (in Romanian of course) when he wants something or needs something. One time though he was asking Ashley to make the movie on the screen bigger and he said ugly please. Ashley and I were laughing so hard. It was so cute and very clever of him. He is also very excited about coming to America! Ashley was explaining to him that we would be leaving soon and he asked her if he was coming too. She had to tell him that he was but not at the same time. He’s very excited! We hope all is well and that things are going okay back in the US of A! Love all of us here in Romania!

The Lastest From Romania6/11/08Marius has made a lot of progression in his exercises and movement. He can sit up for short amounts of time with no problems and can get into and out of a wheelchair with only a little bit of help. He loves to be pushed up and down the hallway outside his room. We have a new game we play where we pretend a balloon is a bomb and we throw it at each other. I know it sounds silly, but he loves it. His burns are looking better every day. His beautiful blue eyes and big smile always brighten up my day! 5/28/08Sorry I haven't sent you an email sooner. We were out of the hospital for a few days and we've finally gotten back into the swing of things. Navigation |
