Updates from teamMarius8/12/08 Marius Has Arrived! We wanted to update you on the arrival of Marius and some of the things we have been doing and of course the progress on the surgical front!! Let's start out with the arrival! Most of the Team Marius members were at the airport excitedly awaiting the arrival of the three Romanians. We could hardly believe it was actually here! Marius, Teo and Ionut arrived at about 5:30 and were a little overwhelmed and a lot exhausted but they were good sports about our enthusiasm! 8/1/08 MARIUS IS ON HIS WAY!MARIUS IS COMING!! Marius, and Ionut and Teo will arrive at LAX on August 4th at 3:40 p.m. Team Marius families are going to be there as well as a group of Romanians from the community there in LA where word is spreading about his arrival along with lots of willingness to help. We think that is just terrific that they will have fellow Romanians to help them with their transition and share his culture, traditions, and language. These friends will be a great support in helping Marius adjust to the many changes! The process to get to this point has been long but the miracles myriad! So about a half an hour ago we saw Ionut, Teo, and Marius go through security to get on their plane! Kristen, they were all so excited! The exhaustion and stress that Teo has been burdened with seemed to vanish and she seemed so relieved that it was finally happening! You have such a wonderful adventure ahead of you with these amazing boys! From the bottom of my heart I thank you for working so hard for this miracle to occur! We appreciate Team Marius so much! Thank you again and I hope to see you sometime in the near future! Have a wonderful day! Mindy. Click here and scroll to the bottom to see the additional pictures. Great New Pictures of Marius
6/11/08Marius has made a lot of progression in his exercises and movement. He can sit up for short amounts of time with no problems and can get into and out of a wheelchair with only a little bit of help. He loves to be pushed up and down the hallway outside his room. We have a new game we play where we pretend a balloon is a bomb and we throw it at each other. I know it sounds silly, but he loves it. His burns are looking better every day. His beautiful blue eyes and big smile always brighten up my day! 5/28/08Sorry I haven't sent you an email sooner. We were out of the hospital for a few days and we've finally gotten back into the swing of things. 5/13/08Special Note: Jessica & Ashley have now returned home from Romania having completed their semester there. They have been replaced by another group of wonderful students who are picking up where they left off. Melissa Reber is one of those students and sends this update: Marius In The News!
UPR Featuring Marius!
The first segment of Utah Public Radio's feature on Marius ran this morning (4/21). You can listen to it here. The next segment will air Friday 4/25 at 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. Utah time. The feature includes interviews with many members of TeamMarius and Maruis himself! You don't want to miss it! April 14, 2008The last week has gone really well with Marius, and I think that he is making great progress. His legs are looking so much better, and he has been in pain a lot less often. The doctors are also giving him less medication, which is a good sign. Alina (his cousin) has been so great with him, and we were sad that we had to say goodbye to her on Saturday. We learned this week how smart Marius is. Alina bought him an etch-o-sketch and we worked on him using his mouth to write. |
